If you’ve seen any ads for fitness companies, it seems like you need the latest clothes, fabulous accessories and technology and a membership to a trendy gym with a personal trainer. How else will you get those 6 pack abs to show off?

In the real world, you do not have to spend a fortune to get in amazing shape. So long as your clothes and accessories are comfortable and functional, you can be well on your way to getting in the best shape of your life. In fact, most things on this list you may already have or could be purchased second hand or on sale to fit in your budget.

If you do not have a gym membership or prefer to exercise at home here are a few pieces of equipment you should have that will cover weight lifting for most major muscle groups.
